Acer 8+ Hour Video Contest

Designing and building a website to promote a new laptop with 8+ hours of battery life is no small task. Working closely with M3 Media, we developed the overall strategy of the marketing effort, designed the site, built a custom Ruby on Rails application, helped promote it, and watched it catch fire! The object of the site and overall campaign was to get people interested and excited about the new Acer Timeline laptop as well as get them to enter a contest to win tons of cash and prizes. We called the contest "Acer 8+ Hour Video Contest" and asked entrants of the contest to create a video, under two minutes, showing how they would use the Timeline's 8+ hours of battery life. Then entrants were charged with promoting their video through social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Our custom built Ruby on Rails web application aggregated all of this social media attention and calculated their scores.
